Individual arrival at the district capital Feldbach, the city is connected to the public transportation network at may be reached by train or bus. An ambassador of the region welcomes and accompanies you, telling stories about the region and its inhabitants.

Day 1: 10:00 o’clock guided tour through the Feldbacher Tabor. The former fortification surrounds the church of Feldbach on three sides. Nowadays it’s home to a diverse universal museum. The guided tour gives insights into folk life, natural history, handicraft, contemporary history, archaeology and culture of the district and the city of Feldbach. The collection “Fortresses and castles” provides an excellent overview of still remaining and already vanished historical fortifications in the region. Thus, the Tabor forms an ideal starting point for excursions to those places.

The visit of Castle Kornberg forms the highlight of your first day on the Castle Road. Get a feel for atmosphere of the Green Salon, marvel at the ancestral halls and stroll through the arcades. Historical background information about the family as well as amusing facts from the castles’ owner himself provide you with an interesting and unforgettable insight into the last centuries. Count Bardeau himself guides you through the castle. Through the castles’ woods we follow the trail back to Feldbach, after 33km we’ve come full circle and you check-in at your hotel in Feldbach.

Day 2: Empowered from the regional breakfast we start our tour through the valley of the river Raab upwards onto the Fröhlichberg to the Fromagerie zu Riegersburg. In Austria’s 1^st cheese art and maturing manufactory Bernhard Gruber focuses his work onto the affinage and refinement of cheese. No matter if you are cheese lover or not, it is a unique experience.

From the terrace of the cheese dairy you can already see our next stop: Sitting enthroned on the next hill is the fortress Riegersburg, easily reached by e-bike. The most impressive landmark of the region is more than 850 years old and built on a volcanic rock with a wonderful view. We pass by the village square on our way to the starting point for our excursion onto the fortress. We walk up the hill until reaching the fortress’ plateau. There the exhibitions “Legendary Riegersburg” and “The witches” await us. Lunch is served at the fortress’ tavern. Relaxed and with time to enjoy the landscape we cycle back into the valley of the river Raab and onwards to Feldbach, the speedometer shows 31km for the day.

Day 3: Biking tour towards the south. Passing by Prädiberg and the golf course Gleichenberg we travel along the Gleichenberger volcanoes to Castle Kapfenstein. The castle proudly resides on a volcanic cone, that’s been extinct since 2 million years. Once the location of a safety fuze, today a hotel and restaurant with a well-groomed garden. While enjoying an amuse-bouche the view roams over the hilly landscape, leaving you with a feeling of flying over a huge landscaped garden that softly unfolds itself in front of your eyes. The road leads on in the same gentleness and passes the Kuruzzenkogel and the volcanic arena to the oldest, still traditionally operated mill on the river Raab. Here the family Berghofer produces pumpkin-seed oil, also known as the “black gold” of Styria. From the pumpkin-seed via the production through to the tasting – you’ll experience all steps involved in producing the oil first hand.

Passing by pumpkin and corn fields you cycle back to Feldbach along the river Raab, 44km in total. Return of the e-bikes, individual conclusion of the evening. Check-out and individual departure on day 4.
