September and October are special months in Styria. During the best weeks for exploring the colorful regions, we guide numerous guests along spectacular routes.
Mid September we went on an outstanding trip: BVB Touristik hired us to show visitors from Berlin the state capital Graz as well as the southern parts of Styria. Cultural sights, like St. Barbara-Church in Bärnbach, designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Lipizzaner horses in Piber and Castle Eggenberg, alternated with a range of culinary delights. To top it all off, the tour led us to Kitzeck, situated at 564 m above sea level and thus the highest wine growing village in Central Europe. However, the program’s highlight happened at the Fortress Deutschlandsberg’s restaurant: Famous chef Johann Lafer surprised the group with an eventful gala-dinner. Laughter about culinary anecdotes rang through the castle’s halls, excellent wine was tasted and philosophical theories about the culinary awesomeness of Styria were tested.
