On July 5, 2017 two COSME projects that involved regional businesses met for a lively exchange and a joint presentation in Feldbach, Styria. First on the agenda was an impulse lecture by the Chairman of the region “Steirisches Vulkanland” and mayor of the city of Feldbach Ing. Josef Ober. We were very happy about the high participation and the consecutive appreciation for both projects. Apart from a number of representatives of local SMEs, the press officer of the regional tourism association Thermenland Steiermark Mrs. Belinda Schagerl and the managing director from the tourist office in Feldbach Mr. Christian Ortauf followed the invitation.
The project EDEN55plus-NW focused on working with local SMEs in tourism during three workshops and fostering networking. The SMEs jointly developed a brochure for tourism agencies. In both projects pilot tests were conducted by senior citizens. The project DiscOver55+ used the results of these evaluations undertaken by seniors in order to compile a handbook with recommendations and guidelines for developing packages for senior tourism. During the event the result was presented to the interested audience by Andrea Grabher from our partner GEFAS.
These presentations by experts were followed by partner contributions: an ethno-program from Solcavsko, Rezi-Cake and bobbins from Idrija and Velebit cheese for a tasting at a special place-the Altstadtgasse, a historical preserved alleyway in Feldbach. At the Loambudl, a very simple bowling alley that is typical for the region, the communication among the guests culminated. SMEs from our EDEN project got together with partners and evaluators from DiscOver55+. This exchange fulfilled the most important target of the pilot test experiences. There the feedback consistently said: “Provide more opportunities for senior citizens to get in touch with the local population while on holiday.”
